Inspired by Jonas Mekas’ restless spirit, Alessandra Novaga and Stefano Pilia delve into music, languages, aesthetics and worlds seeking the ideas and meaning behind them, and merge fragments of sounds and glimpses of time, making their own poetry of “little bits”, while exploring the multidimensional occurrences in the environment they create. As it’s commonly written, the soundscape is a journey on the thin line between composition and improvisation, but rarely it is so exquisitely undeniable as in “Glimpses of a Day”· It is more than a coarse dialogue between two improvisationists, and certainly much more than a presentation of a composition that has a “plan” behind an improvisational facade. Here, Alessandra Novaga and Stefano Pilia interact in a completely equal and complementary manner: one is the other’s ears and one is the other’s hands. As the music advances, it spontaneously abandons the form it seemed to have acquired so far, but little by little, angles get blunter, the guitar playing more sensitive, and reaching a climax, the created atmosphere becomes significantly more coherent and fragile, leading the listener to abstract glimpses of a dreamscape, which is not too far from a poetic and nostalgic view of everyday life or at least an everyday life lived by documenting only the things we love.
